I doubt it, I haven’t seen any tech like that anyways. Must be one of those “nanomachines” moment wherein you won’t find an explanation.

So if you watch this video you learn about resonant frequencies, a phenomena where if certain objects have this frequency achieved, they’ll start to misbehave.I think it’s possible, but that would have to be a pretty smart weapon. So different shapes have different resonant frequencies, but I think also different materials affect it.
It’d be like that one time on Star Trek where the crew had to square off against the borg, but you would have to get an EXACT frequency. And your weapon has to do this every time on it’s own, not to mention if there’s armor made of different shapes and materials in layers…
A very smart weapon…

I have read upon this question and the question is: yes, you will need a 50 ghts and.. Uh.. Not in the way you think. If you look at some of Gray Fox’s concept art, you’d see that his HF blade was based on pre-existing Ultrasonic Drill from the 1950s and the experimental Ultrasonic Cutter from the mid-1990s. By comparison, you had to plug the machines into power sources, usually a power outlet or generator to get them working back then. In Metal Gear, the concept of the HF sword is derivative of the pre-existing tech, only greatly exaggerated, where the Ultrasonic Blade in real life would be 1–3 inches, in Metal Gear, it’s almost 3 feet long. In real life it took literal decades to make it portable, in Metal Gear, it’s been around since the 80s. In real life, it’s would take prolonged contact with the object to cut it, in Metal Gear, things get cut in an instant. All in all, Metal Gear exaggerates or misrepresents the real life tech they base their stuff on by a lot.
