For me personally, it would definitely be Leatherman. They seem to have the best combinations of tools, and are comfortable in the hand at the same time. Gerber multi tools tend to be more industrial feeling, and don’t have the same ergonomics.

That depends on who you ask. I work for one of those companies, so you can pretty much bet that *I’m* going to pick the one I make. And I can’t even give you a fair comparison, as I have never used the other companies’ products.
Chicago Cutlery Belden 15 Piece Premium Kitchen Knife
I personally would stay away from Gerber knives and tools. In my experience, for any Gerber knife you could want, I could find you multiple knives of much better quality at a similar price.
If you are looking for a traditional multi tool ,Leatherman is a tried and true brand and while I don’t own any of their products, I have handled various models before and I like them a lot.
If you are looking for a slimmer tool, I would suggest a Victorinox knife. They have loads of models with all kinds of tools. I personally think that the Tinker is a great choice for EDC.

Victorinox, actually.
The makers of the Swiss army knife also make the best multitool, the Swiss tool. Their only flaw is that they are so beautiful you feel bad using them. Yet they handle anything you throw at them better than other multitool.
Second to them are Leatherman. I have owned and used almost every iteration of multitool produced by Leatherman and none of them come close to the fit, finish, functionality or pure gorgeousness of the Swiss tool.
That said, if you have a Leatherman surge in your hand, you feel like you can tackle any job. Its like the big rough and tough, unpolished mate you know will stick by you no matter what.
Do yourself a favor and go to a shop where you can handle the display pieces. Take your time and play around with the ones you like. Or you end up like me, looking for the perfect multitool and buying too many that you will never use.

The best one is whichever one works best for you. I personally am a fan of the leatherman wave model.

Leatherman or Victorinox. These 2 brands I trust, they’re tried, tested, and their heritage is in multi tools.
Other brands, not so.

Honestly, I’ll be the lone wolf suggesting Gerber. I actually have two Gerber Suspension multi-tools because they are awesome, and cheap. I think I paid 20 bucks for one and 25 for the other. I also have SOGs and no-names, and have used Leathermans. But the price tag for a pair of fancy pliers makes me hesitant to spend the money for the higher end tools.

I would have to say for me if it came down as a battle, leatherman vs victorinox.
You want class as well as a bit more efficiency than say some cheap junk on ebay definitely head to victorinox but if your looking to get down and dirty and you want it to last for a really long time (enough so you can say “son, this got me through allot and I hope it helps you the way it did me”) then head your arse over to leatherman.
But Note all that I write is out of pure experience and use. My uncle has had a leatherman supertool 300 for the past ten years or so and I recently got a leatherman skeletool and ever since, never left the house without it. I’ve had the victorinox classic which was a hand me down from my uncle because it was too small for his hands. So all that I contribute is after total experience.

I’ve used quite a few different multi-tools over the years.
The old Gerber tools were very good, the new ones, not so much.
I’ve still got a pair I picked up 20 years ago that’s still doing well.
That said, I’ve got an original Leatherman Supertool that is even longer.
The out the front design of the Gerber tools was very useful when you only had one hand available, and it still lives in my tool box at home.
The Victorinox tools are really high quality, but I can’t get on with their ergonomics, I just don’t like to use them.
These days, the multi-tool I use most is a SOG Powerplier.
It has a compound leverage system that gives mechanical advantage to the jaws of the pliers. I can do much more with them.
I’d have to say that it is my favourite, plus SOG sell spare tools and blades for it, which you can replace/exchange yourself so you can customise the loadout of your tool.

Multitools come in different types and set of implements, so the best one for you is whatever fits closest to your need. No two multitools are exactly the same across different brands, therefore doing a straight comparison is difficult.
However, if you judge them by material, fit and finish, then Victorinox still comes on top. I have owned tools from Victorinox, Leatherman and SOG, but not Gerber. Gerber doesn’t exactly use the best material and employ superior craftsmanship, so I haven’t been interested in any of their products.
The standard Victorinox steel is more rust resistant than Leatherman’s. I found out the hard way when my Leatherman rusted in my damp car trunk. A Victorinox Swisstool is also engineered and manufactured with such precise tolerance that you can pull each tool separately. The s…
