I have been researching on this topic for a while now. I still can’t answer the best of them but can suggest going for a few.
I ordered Meyers vast iron skillet it’s really nice and useful but it’s quite expensive compared to other Indian brands available.
Some of the brand’s available in Amazon which are in average price range of 500–1500 rs are trinolium, bhagya foundry, rock tawa and india valley and highkind.
Choose any of the brands only difference is in the shape and size. Reviews are also fairly good.
I’m going for bhagya foundry ordered it just a few days back, yet to receive.

There used to be a time when good quality cast iron cookware was a rarity in India. Even 5 years back I had difficult time getting high quality cast iron cookware and had to get Lodge pans from US.
And no the local pans normally do not pass the test. They are way too thin, I was not impressed with iron quality. Yes, they are cheaper, but a maintenance nightmare and you do not want that with cast iron.
Now we have decent options for India made cast iron cookware. Most of them seem to have the weight, though not yet there in terms of pre-seasoning. I have seen good reviews of Indus Valley and Rock and reasonably priced too. But there are complaints about pre-seasoning.
Since cast iron cookware is literally an one-time investment, I still prefer Lodge because it has a nice balance, high quality iron and perfect pre-seasoning. The new kid on the block, Meyers, appear to be nice too.
I swear by Lodge. Unfortunately I will not able to rate other brands because I am never going to buy cast iron cookware ever again.
Funniest cast iron related ad I have seen – cast iron kadai, induction compatible. Why the fig would anyone use induction stove for cast iron kadai???? A kadai needs fire, a proper fire 🙂
