i assume you mean “induction or infrared”
regarding energy consumption: according to Table 1 in this paper, induction stoves consume roughly less than half the energy compared to infrared
induction stoves can also reach high temperatures much faster than infrared stoves

We own a range with an induction cooktop, as do friends who’ve seen ours in action. I don’t recall ever seeing a combination infrared induction cooktop.
Induction cooktops are more efficient than infrared. An induction cooktop heats the pot magnetically, and so you have to use induction capable cookware. Aluminum and ceramic will not work. Infrared works with any type of cookware.
Along with greater efficiency, induction cooktops modulate the cooking power at least as well as gas. Response is nearly instantaneous. This is not true of infrared. Also, the only heat in the glass cooktop of an induction range is generated in the cooking vessel. The cooktop itself does not generate heat. This makes an induction cooktop safer, as turning on a hob does nothing unless an induction capable cooking vessel is over the hob.
No one I know who has an induction cooktop would ever even consider going back to gas, infrared, or those awful electric coils. We even have a portable induction cooktop. We love induction. The only drawback is the higher cost. Since it is a long-term purchase, that should not be a primary consideration.
Non-Stick Cookware Set, Pots and Pans – 8-Piece Set
I don’t think that there is such a thing as an infrared induction cooktop. Combining the two cooking methods would be a waste of time and money and makes little sense. I expect that someone is trying to sell a basic ceramic or halogen unit by sticking the word “Induction” in there to mislead potential buyers.
Even having a single induction ring in an otherwise conventional ceraspeed (Infrared) unit makes no sense as the pan for that ring would need to have a ferrous base to be suitable for the induction ring.
