Most – if not all – Italians will eat pasta with a fork and occasionally use a knife to help guide the pasta and sauce onto their fork. As Europeans, their fork is usually inverted and they hold the knife in their left hand.
There are many forms of pasta, but when it comes to spaghetti, I have never seen an Italian eat spaghetti with a spoon. Using an inverted fork, they simply roll the pasta onto their fork (fork points down) and occasionally use the knife to scoop some of the cheese, meat or sauce onto the neatly rolled pasta bite.
I have never seen pasta cut with a knife.

The fork. I’m Italian-American and could spin pasta like a magician in my high chair. It’s easy and efficient. I’ve never seen any of my Italian relatives use the spoon and fork method. It’s awkward and unneccssary.

Pasta comes in many varieties. Pretty much every type of dry pasta is best eaten with a fork. Some types, like lasagna, needs a knife and food, and a few types in soups obviously must be eaten with a spoon.
