That title probably has to go to the Japanese tuna slicer called a “ maguro bōchō”. They’re a giant “kitchen knife” that runs from 30 cm (12 inches) to 150 cm (60 inches), plus the handle.

Realistically after about 9″ or so, you have a small sword, with all the annoyances that creates – weight, ungainly to keep on you while moving about etc. etc.

I am going with the kukri. The Gurkha have been using these for ages of ages. The kukri are not overly long, but are very thick and strong, and therefore will retain an edge for a long time. And believe me, they get used.
