  1. I’m assuming a billhook is the same or similar to what is often sold as a “brush axe.”
For a picture look up Lowes or Home Depot’s websites and search for “brush axe” and for the single handed version look up “Fiskar’s Brush Axe.”
A billhook will have a certain blade shape that is curved/hooked, short, and wide.
The construction of the only one-handed brush axe I own, the Fiskar’s, is similar to a machete in terms of blade thickness and grind and the blade is similar to a small machete aside from shape. The handle is not like a machete handle but instead similar to the handle of the Fiskar’s hatchet, but that might just be the way Fiskar’s makes them.
The blade on my Fiskar’s single handed brush axe is single edged but the one on my full sized brush axe is double edged.

  2. A bill hook is short and heavy. Its hooked blade is meant for heavy chopping and pruning of woody plants. A bill hook is a fearsome weapon . It was used in warfare since the middle ages. The French issued them in the First World War as both a tool and a weapon. A machete has a thinner blade and its both an agricultural tool and a weapon. They are used wherever brush needs to be cleared. Sometimes they are ground into a thinner form to be used as a weapon . The genocide in Rwanda was done with machetes.
