On some knives you can see it, on others you can’t, but basically it means the blade extends fully into the handle, right to the end. A bit hard to explain but cheaper knives it stops half way down.

What is full tang when referring to a knife?
The tang of a knife blade is the part of the blade to which the handle is affixed. The shape and length of the tang may vary, determining the handle’s strength and durability, the knife’s weight and balance, and the cost and ease of manufacturing the knife. There are many types of tang, a few of which are shown here:
The full tang is usually the most durable, exerting the user’s leverage along the full length of the blade and tang, so that (ideally) there is no tendency to break, weaken or loosen the handle as the knife is used over time. This requires that fasteners/rivets be placed along the full length of the handle. The full tang’s drawbacks are its heavier weight, its greater manufacturing process and cost, and the potential nuisance of fasteners/rivets interfering with the user’s grip.
A partial or hidden tang can be perceived as more elegant, is easier to manufacture and assemble, and is lighter. If the handle is sufficiently durable and tightly fitted to the tang, only one fastener/rivet, if any, might be used.

A full tang is when the metal that makes the blade runs the full length of the knife (from tip to tale) with the handles attached to the base of the knife with rivets. Turn a chef’s knife so that the spine is facing upward. If you see the metal running the full length of the knife, then it is full tang.

Half tang on the left, full tang on the right (blade runs through the entire length of the handle).
Full tang is considered a better quality construction and typically contains three rivets, which lessen the chance of the blade separating from the handle through years of normal wear and tear.
