I have had this dream, and I know precisely what it meant for me:
As a teenager, I spent a lot of time with my sister and brother-in-law and their six (6!) kids. My sister was nine years older than I, and married quite young (17 years old), so they were at a great age for me to have a lot of fun with them and the little ones.
I idolized my b.i.l.; he was the brother I never had. Being with them gave me access to being in an “adult” environment that I never would have been exposed to if I only hung out with kids my own age.
After I completed college, then service in the Air Force, when I returned home, I learned the whole story of their relationship: he had been abusive to both my sister and their kids. I had been totally unaware of this dimension of their life. On top of that, he never held any job for long and took ridiculous risks physically and financially.
I discovered all this when they divorced, leaving my sister with six young ones to raise. I helped her all I could, but watched devastated at what became of their lives. One night, I dreamed I was out with my sister and my brother-in-law having a good time, as we once had done, when I saw the brutal side of him with my own eyes. Very emotional and crying in my dream, I very carefully aimed at him with my gun (I never have had one in real life!), and shot him dead.
The trauma of that dream woke me up crying. I was grief stricken about killing my former buddy, but also profoundly relieved.
After that night, I never felt the guilt and anger I had before for him. I was able to understand the cruelty and wrong he had done without feeling it was somehow my fault, and without living with seething hatred for him. I had truly (emotionally) killed him from my internal life.

I’m the one who wrote the question above, going to give some backstory to it.
Before the dream, had lot to drink with friends and plenty of meat. Good friends, from highschool then came home. Making me think, about my future . At the time was getting in swing of working out, reading organising myself and not wanting to be a lazy, procrastinating guy which I been skating by for about 6 years. During the dream, I’m in prison for something don’t feel was guilty about – stealing inventory from the workplace. Made a weapon, after being in their a few days. It’s a knife, as good as prison ones are. Sitting in bench by self in the cell, one approaches gives aura of bad intensions. Looks smug, over confident with little to give it such reason. Triggered feeling of some qualities inside, perception of what he could be like as the conversation continued such ideas were reinforced. Pessimistic, procrastinating person with bad ideas and dim outlook on life. Not wanting peace, just living every day no principles. After while of talking him wanting to know too much, made him go away with warning. He got up, something triggered me as I got up, knocking him senseless right onto the floor. Pounding his face, typical brawl but after few seconds the person stopped defending themselves. Looked around the room, an animalistic instinct kicked in like this person dosent deserve to live. Drove the blade into his chest, twisting it firmly to ensure never survive. Just the dream cut off point, with blood all over but exhale or relief like it’d be long standing. Just side note: it’s something I’ve never had such a dream in 20 years of life.

You could just be playing to many war games on your computer and most likely not getting enough sleep perhaps and you have combined your mind in the video game so your probably pretty good at the game and that superiorness is having you conquer and kill everyone in your dreams too. I had a recurrent dream while I was with an ex-boyfriend. It was a toxic relationship that lasted 6 years, one that I repeatedly tried to leave but was unable to until shit hit the fan and I walked away.
My dreams would always vary on who and what the exact situation was, but the feelings were always the same.
I would always be fighting someone (whether it’s a man or a woman or monster) and I would be fighting for my life. I would have a knife, and cut their throats, but they never ever died. I would slash over and over again. To my frustration, they always lived.
I had that dream monthly, if not nightly at some points for 3 years. The dreams stopped after I left the ex-boyfriend. A friend of mine wisely summed it up with “it sounds like you couldn’t cut someone out of your life”. The unconscious is always talking in symbols…it’s up to you to listen about what it’s saying for your own life. It is hard to comment on a dream with scarce information about it. Not to mention I don’t believe in interpretation of dreams out of a therapeutic relationship. I can only tell you very general things about it. You possibly have strong feelings of anger or fear that you have trouble dealing with. They may or may not be directed to the person you kill in your dreams. You may even be representing yourself, either in fear of being not necessarily killed but under a very repressive authority or experiencing a deep inner conflict. In any way, dreaming doesn’t mean you’ll do it or would do it when awake. But it means you are suffering, feeling threatened by circumstances somehow. I know that’s not much of an answer, but I would be wild guessing if I said more than that.
