I have no Idea what Maryland state laws are pertaining to knives, and the carrying of such. But I do know two things about every place I’ve ever lived.
1. Regardless of what state law may allow, county/city ordinances may say different. State law may allow you to carry a lockblade knife concealed in your pocket for example, but a county or city ordinance may deem that a ticketable, or even an arrest worthy offense. State law may allow a fixed blade exposed on your belt with up to a 4 inch blade, but the if the city you happen to be in doesn’t and you get spotted by a police officer you may be in trouble.
2. When it comes to interpreting and enforcing laws regarding knives (blade length, type, method of carry etc…) police officers tend to be all over the place as far as their understanding of whats legal and whats not. I’ve seen cops argue over a knife someone had in their pocket at a street fair. It was a 3 1/2 inch folding knife, lockblade, with a one finger open lug that according to one officer “ Effectively made it a switchblade, and was illegal in TX “ and the other officer said “No it didn’t, but it was illegal because the blade was 1/2” to long for a lockblade knife… Never mind that TX legalized switc…
