I have a Schrade Old Timer that I have owned for forty years. I think 40 years qualifies as “that will last.” This one is a 3-blade, 4-inch folder, the pattern was called “Stockman.” I carried it every day for many years. Schrade Old Timers are no longer made in the USA and I don’t think I would expect a new one to outlast the one I have.
I still have it, but it is no longer an everyday tool. I only find the occasion to wear it a couple times a month, just like I do the “good” boots or the “new” hat. Come to think of it, the “good” boots and the “new” hat are both over ten years old.

I’m a farmer and have a regular Swiss Army knife that I use almost daily and a “trade knife” (like a skinning knife) that I made.
(Well, I made the blade, the hubby carved the handle to fit my hand perfectly.)
There’s no chore one or the other can’t be used on.
Amazon Basics 14-Piece Kitchen Knife Block Set, High-Carbon
I can personally recommend the Buck 110. While I don’t live on a farm , per se, I perform many of the duties that one on a farm might. Cutting twine, food, trimming bits from my plants, cutting my nails and any stray threads off of my clothing, etc. Coupled with the amazing warranty that Buck offers, the 110 has served me well for…6 years? I don’t quite remember when I got mine. USA made with an extremely high quality leather sheath. The knife is rather heavy for a typical pants pocket, so I would definitely recommend the use of a belt and sheath.
To clarify, Buck’s warranty offers repair for as long as the company stays in business. Ship the knife off to them after filling out a repair form and it comes back good as new. I’ve done this ONE time to my Buck after I dropped it on a concrete septic tank and dented the spine badly. The knife functioned perfectly, it was just rather uncomfortable in the hand because of the jagged edges of the dent.
These can be had for 33$ on Amazon when they are on sale, but for now, they are just a penny under your budget.

One knife is never enough! You could start out with a Case 3.7″ blade Sod Buster. I bought mine in 1971 and I still carry it occasionally. It is a darn good knife, but it does not lock open. I carried a Buck 110 for years and had Buck fix it up a few years back. I really like that knife, too, but you need both hands to open it. Nowadays I prefer knives that open with one hand and lock open. I was going to recommend a Buck Stockman Knife if you want a multi-bladed knife, but they are now made in China. Look up Mooremaker (dot) com for handcrafted, American made knives. I especially like their locking Sod Busters.

I have an SOG Flash II knife, I have about 20 of them because I keep buying one losing it buying another then finding it. I don’t know if it was maybe $40 I got it at Cabelas. I use mine a lot so it’s good for about a day then I got to sharpen it. I feel like a good knife would keep a sharp edge longer than that so idk if it could be considered the best. But it works.

Well go to Walmart. You can get a Buck 110 for around 40 bucks with leather sheath.
Or if you prefer fixed blades I picked this one up for 10 bucks. I am actually surprised how sharp I was able to get it and how much abuse it has taken.
And I don’t know what kind of pants you would be wearing to call this a pocket knife but I paid 35 for it at sports authority.
I paid 10 for the small one pictures went in the wrong order

Not a farmer, but a truck driver. Look for a Buck or a Schrade made in the United States, or the good old Swiss army knife. I used to swear by Leatherman, but thier blade quality as of late, frankly, sucks. Or a KaBar, a few bucks more, but U.S. made knives, are still worth the money.
ALBATROSS EDC Cool Sharp Tactical Folding Pocket Knife
A Buck 110. Learn how to keep it sharp. Buy it online or at Walmart or Cabela’s. Oops I don’t live on a farm but I did many years ago, in Belize. My 30″ Colima machete saw as much or more use than my pocketknife.
MOSFiATA 8 Super Sharp Professional Chef’s Knife
My sister is married to a potato farmer and her OKC RAT has held up for five years. The Buck 110 is also a great work knife. If you are willing to spend a bit more, you can’t go wrong with a CRKT M-21-04, that thing has held up for me with some tasks that would break a lot of fixed blades.

Opinel in ‘Carbone’. Carbon steel and a simple lock that won’t break. An array of sizes. Best folder on the planet for the price.

You ask: “ This ones for anyone who lives on a farm, whats the best pocket knife that will last under like, 50 bucks and where can I buy it? ”
In years gone by, I’d of said “That’d be an Old Timer!” but Old Timers are made in China now, and the quality seems to show.
So, I’d go with a Buck 110, about $40 at Walmart the store.
Zelite Infinity Damascus Chef Knife 8 Inch, Japanese Chef Knife
I have the large Schrade Imperial Sodbuster cause I couldn’t afford the large Case Sodbuster.
It was less than 15dollars.
Many complain of the gritty action of the blade movement as it opens & closes.
(It’s NOT the back spring). It’s because the brass liners that normally reduce friction, facilitating a smooth action on quality slip joint folders, on the Schrade Imperial sodbuster are actually just brass paint covering plastic. The steel blade hinge point is rotating back & forth, grinding, against the plastic liners of the plastic handle.
Thus the friction is very noticeable. However, for the price, this is a very good utility/work knife.
For big hands the large folder is more comfortable grip than the small folder. I gutted fish, field dressed & butchered chickens, skinned & cleaned squirrels, skinned deer, slice up onions and cut open feed sacks w/it. Rehoned the edge w/a butcher’s steel.

Buck 110 or the basic Spyderco that Walmart sells. Both are solid under $50 knives. Other stores will carry them too.
