They’re both well made. Personally I’d get a hatchet with an 18″ handle and a small (4–6″/100–150mm) general purpose knife.
People spend a lot of time fixating on steel alloys and whatnot. Metis and Courier du Bois managed quite nicely with milder steel combinations that we have today. Mostly they used axes and skinning knives, and bought a new one when the old one wore out.
I wouldn’t spend a lot of time overthinking this. It’s more important to get outdoors than it is to have the perfect gear.

Two entirely different animals. I wouldn’t use a Puukko for most of the harder bushcrafting tasks. It may serve well for a camp knife but if you find the need to baton or heavy scraping…..I would say no. remember you may be working with this in your hand for hours. It’s got to be comfortable and safe. Puukko’s are great for many tasks. I just wouldn’t say the harder tasks of the hobby are on that list. Correct me if I am wrong here folks.
