Let’s just look at the competitive records of men who spent their lives stress testing their purely knife fighting skills against other people’s purely knife fighting skills while controlling all the the other variables of real world combat, (height, weight, clothes, gear, guns, numbers, funding, stealth, etc) rigorously figuring out what works and what doesn’t, why, when, and in what context.
Oh wait, no such records exist.

I’m gonna say yes. Kali would work in a real knife fight, because Kali specifically teaches and trains for knife attacks and defenses. So if a person is well trained in Kali, do not get into a knife fight with them, as you’ll most likely lose.
Have you not seen Doug Marcaida wield a knife? Have you not seen him attack a ballistics dummy or a pig carcass? I think most people would agree that it would be a bad idea to get involved in a knife fight with Doug Marcaida.
