Yes. Corning uses borosilicate glass, and they invented Pyrex, which is a simpler name to remember. Their Pyrex can handle extraordinarily low (-300F) to extraordinarily high (900F), which is why it is so popular in laboratories.
But you mustn’t put it under the broiler or on a hot stove. It is also sensitive to rapid temperature changes, so let it warm to room temperature before putting it in a hot oven, and let it cool to room temperature before returning it to the fridge. Also, if ingredients in the casserole will be leaking some moisture, add a little layer of moisture to the bottom before cooking.
475 is child’s play for CorningWare.

corning ware was actually invented by mistake, a scientist was experimenting with glass and the thermostat on the equipment her was using malfunctioned and went up to over 900 degrees. When he pulled out the glass, it had turned “white hot” and he dropped it taking it out of the chamber. When it didn’t shatter, he knew he was on to something great! I love my corning ware, since it is glass, it has no contaminants to get into your food, can really go from the freezer to the oven to the table, just like the commercial jingle!

A2A thanks
Original Corning Ware was discontinued in about 2000 to 2002.
The newer so called “CorningWare” is not as versitle. It can’t tolerate sudden temperature shifts. The new instructions suggests for the user to heat the oven before putting the dish with the glass lid in the oven and keep the temperature below 350°.
There are casserole dishes made to go in the oven, so unless you have some odd plastic form of Corning ware dish made to go into the oven at 450° that no one has seen, yes you can bake in it at 475°.(that was true of CorningWare as per OwensCorning in 2010-2017.(for CorningWare questions go to http://www.> Talk to Experts in minutes, 24/7
They can answer queries on almost any type of glass cook ware from stoneware, glass, glass-ceramic, ovenware, from convection oven, stoneware, ovenware, in a preheated convection oven toa microwave. The dishes can go from freezer to refrigerator into the oven without need to acclimate to room temperature.

If you’re talking about the original vintage pyroceram glass made before it was discontinued in 2001, I’ve used mine at 475 degrees many times.
Pyroceram glass is safe at very high temperature, sometimes stated it can withstand 900 degrees Fahrenheit. It was advertised not with a maximum temperature allowance, but rather that it would stand extreme temperature changes.
Original literature from the 1950’s-1970’s mentions it can go straight from freezer or refrigerator to a preheated oven and it won’t break; withstand a 840 degree difference in temperature; boil dry without breaking; and more.

Corning produced many different products over the years and each has it’s own unique advantages and limitations. You really need to contact Corning and find out exactly what piece you own, then get an answer from the manufacturer as to what is or is not safe for the particular piece(s) you have.

Frankly, I wouldn’t put any of the newer, lower quality glass in the oven at all. The older stuff was great/is great. I’ve put Pyrex in there lots of times at high heat.
The new stuff isn’t made the same way and can explode. In 1997, the companies that made this crazy tough glass switched the formula. They replaced the borosilicate glass they were using with lime soda glass because (you guessed it) it’s cheaper. The new stuff can explode.
Here’s everything you never wanted to know about it:

That’s Fahrenheit, not Celcius which almost everywhere except the US uses. It’s about 245 Centigrade, which is quite high in any cookware, but sure if it can handle it, go ahead. I never go above 200C except for pork which has 220C for the first half-hour.

You can safely bake products at well over 475 degrees as CorningWare can handle temperatures well over 600 degrees…or much hotter than your oven. Best to not put any hot Corning products directly into cold water. Corning handles thermal shock better than most glass or ceramic products, but don’t push your luck.

Yes. Corning Ware is tough stuff. It is one of my most favourite “dishware/cookingware” products in the Kitchen. It takes just about anything you can dish out.
