I am not sure why it would be.
Usually, handmade means built one at a time (or in small batches) individually supervised by a human. This is compared to factory-made, where an automatic assembly process is working for a large portion of the creation.
Handmade does not mean ‘built without the use any mechanical assistance’ or ‘constructed only using hand tools’.
For metal cookware, handmade implies they used a cast, press, or lathe to form the cooking surface. The handle may have been pre-fabricated, and it is welded or somehow bonded one piece at a time.
For ceramic / clay cookware, handmade might imply formed by hand (i.e. hand thrown) – but it could just as easily mean they manually operated a small casting process.
Regardless, quality material and construction techniques can be had from both handmade and factory manufacturers.
