Yes! First it is a range weapon. It is not deadly i the same sense as a knife. Much better “stopping power” and looks much better in a trail.

The answer to this question depends entirely upon the circumstances of the need for self-defense. In some self-defense situations, either onw can be a fully acceptable means, even against a firearm. I have had each of the three, and, some cases, all three, at my dispsal during self-defense situations. You just have to use your best judgement.

Depends if you encounter a person wearing heavy winter clothes or motorcycle leather, I mean the real kind, a taser has little chance of doing anything and I know a guy who shocked himself on accident with a stun gun and it didn’t do much of anything on bare skin. If you spend the money buying a taser of the quality that police use you also need to train with it because distance and wind effect how they shoot not to mention things such things as rain or what to do if only one probe makes contact. A knife is a very bad choice, even worse really, because you have to be trained to use a knife effectively and if the attacker takes it from you or you don’t properly use it you are really screwed. Personally I carry a knife but I have both training and real world experience using them and know what it feels like to be stabbed and sliced with one as well.

Either will get you a jail sentence if it’s used in a situation where your life was not in danger in the eyes of the law. That being said, the non-lethal taser would be a better option than a knife, unless the assailant is literally trying to kill you.
