Clean the wound, apply a band-aid.
If you don’t think a band-aid will be sufficient then grab a square of gauze, apply some antiseptic apply it to the wound with pressure. Grab some Duct Tape, T-Rex tape, Gorilla tape, etc. and wrap your finger as tight as you can. Unlike electrical tape which can stretch and thus be applied ‘To Tight’ cutting off circulation. Duct tape incorporates a weave and weft(sp?) in its construction to maximize tensile strength at the cost of elasticity. Another great property of Duct Tape over band-aid/bandages is, as you sweat and the moisture neutralizes the adhesive on the tape/bandage causing your bandaid to inevitably fall away, whereas the Duct tape will retain it’s shape and act like a hardened removable finger cast.

Put as much pressure on it as you can. Then head to a drug store for WOUND SEAL! It comes in package with small tubes. You open a tube, sprinkle it on the wound, put a small paper towel or a few sheets of toliet paper over it and hold for 30 seconds!!! that stuff looks like gun powder, burns a lot but WORKS! I have used it a few times on myself and on my husband. In fact, I had to take him to the emergency once and they used it there. That’s when I decided to buy some for myself! I take a blood thinner called Eliquois and I bleed a LOt. But this stuff is fantastic!!!! It immediately forms a natural scab and will fall off when the wound is helaed.

It really depends on the depth of the wound, how dirty the wound is, and if there is any nerve or tendon damage. If the wound is deep and dirty, go to an ER and have it cleaned and irrigated properly so it doesn’t get infected. If there is any numbness or you are unable to extend or flex the finger fully, then go to the ER. If there is fat exposed and you cannot “close the wound” to where the skin edges meet, then go to the ER. If in doubt, go to the ER. In my opinion, it’s well worth the cost of an ER visit than losing your finger’s full function.

You will be fine put a bandage and pressure on it or superglue. I can show pictures of some bad cuts I’ve had they just bleed a lot. I once had a folding knife slap closed on my finger and my girlfriend asked how bad it was and I told it would have gone deeper but luckily the bone stopped it.lol she didn’t get the humor which I thought was strange considering I was the one bleeding.

Hold the finger above your heart and the blood flow will slow down directly after the injury. Make sure you clean the wound and apply compression. Then hold above the heart height once again until the flow stops.

Apply pressure, and use gauze and flush out the wound with water. Apply gauze and keep firm pressure until your finger stops bleeding.

Direct pressure until the main bleeding stops. Wet washcloth, a wad of paper towel, whatever you can lay your hands on.
If it is still bleeding after 15 minutes or so, or if the blood is welling out in rhythm with your heartbeat, you may hav nicked an artery, and a trip to the ER or an Urgent Care would be a good idea.
Otherwise, clean it, put on an antibiotic of some kind if you have it handy, and bandage it.
