Use a Chinese cleaver like an axe and chop right through the head.
The lobster will die instantly and will not suffer any pain and will not suffer physically or emotionally.
Exact position for the kill is between the first joint at the back of it’s shell and the back of the eyes.
Continue to cut the lobster into manageable pieces.

There are a few ways to kill a lobster. By doing it before cooking, you have the option to boil, bake, steam, or cook it in another way.
Freeze the lobster by placing it in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes before putting it headfirst into a pot of boiling water.
A quicker option is to plunge a knife straight down into the carapace (part of exoskeleton on the lobster’s back). Place the tip of a sharp chef’s knife behind the lobster’s eyes, right below where the claws meet the body and halfway to the first joint. Swiftly plunge the knife down through the head. The legs will continue to move a bit afterward but the lobster is in fact dead.
Many chefs prefer a combination of the two: After freezing for 30 minutes, plunge the knife into the lobster. Some chefs prefer just 15 minutes, which is enough to sedate the lobster without freezing the meat.
As an alternative to freezing, you can desensitize the lobster by placing it in a large pot in the sink. Begin filling it with cold tap water and gradually increase the water temperature until it is very hot. You can then use the knife to dispatch the lobster.

You can put them into a kind of sleep my deep freezing them for 15 minutes or so and then “spike”them through the head if you want to be humane.
I do believe however that they die pretty quickly once dropped into a pot of boiling water.

Freezer trick is the easiest. Keep it in the freezer for about 1 hour before preparing. Prepare it quickly after taking it out of the freezer. You could even do it for 2 hours and the lobster will probably die without actually getting frozen.
There are various knife techniques for killing lobsters but I don’t trust people enough to know how to do it. Freezer method is so easy a child can do it. Even if the lobster is only stunned after freezing, tossing it straight away into a pot of boiling water will kill it before it can become un-stunned.
You can also just throw it into a big pot of water that’s at a raging boil. It is a great shock and kills the lobster quite fast, sometimes almost instantly. There are claims that it takes 3 minutes, but that’s greatly exaggerated to make you feel bad about boiling living lobsters. In the same vein, there are claims crabs live for 5 minutes (which is ludicrous, because they’re essentially almost completely cooked through by that point). Actual timing by scientists put it at around 40 seconds at most. To maximize lethality, use a big pot of water at a high boil. If you use a small pot of water, the water will cool considerably when the lobster goes in, contributing to a longer kill time. So, more water and a hotter heat source is better. Use the biggest burner on the highest setting and a big amount of water at a rolling boil.
