I presume you’re talking about a utility knife with about 3/4” of blade showing? lr you can’t fold the cut open so you can get the body of the knife into the cut, then your blade length is your limit.
If you need to slice deeper you’ll need a longer blade.
Typically with any knife you’re going to want to make several passes with the knife with slight pressure. It’s almost always a bad idea to try to cut one deep cut on one pass using great pressure you might slip and cut yourself damage your material and break your blade.
Well you can’t cut much deeper than the length of the blade with any knife. Pushing a little harder might get another inch of depth?
