A solid aluminum skillet will not work on typical commercial induction cooktop.
But not for the reasons stated by others
Explanation : Industrial induction heaters are used commonly to heat all types of metals for hot working operations, like forging, and extrusion to red hot temperatures…including all types steel, copper, brass, and yes aluminum as wll as many others.. Metals are conductors and all are capable of producing heat via induction.
They heat by inducing electric current, eddy currents, in the metal to be heated.
The heat produced is proportional to resistance of the conductor and the square of the electtrial current accoring to Joules first law
A quick look at the resistivity of common metals shows that aluminum alloys are about 20–30 times more condutive than steel; in other words , we need `a lot more power to heat a piece of aluminum than steel… not really very efficient for aluminum relative to steel .
Industrial induction heating solutions cope with resitivity differnces in the design of the power source and induction circuit.
For a cooktop, these units are a simple induction cicuits that need to operated within the power limitations in the home,
These units are designed to heat primarily with low conductivity metals where this circuit is efficient, i.e. steel
To avoid poor performance with aluminum or copper a clever electrical enginneer designed the induction cooktop cicuit so it will not operate without detecting nearby magnetic material…. and we note that only magnetic stainless steels along with cast iron will work on these induction cooktops.
I have worked in factories where we heat 2000 lb billets of copper to red hot temperatures at 700C or hotter using induction billet heaters and another where billets of pure silver and silver alloy were also heated red hot temperature also by induction. Aluminum is often heat the same way and brazed using induction heating.

See if a magnet will stick to the pan. If it sticks the pan should work. If it doesn’t stick the pan won’t work.
Aluminum won’t work unless the manufacturer did something to make it induction ready like putting in a steel core or something.

Sort of- it will if there is a steel or iron plate inside of the skillet. Otherwise it wont. Induction range works by spinning magnets. Aluminium is normally non-magnetic. However with a steel or iron plate inside the casting it would work.
