Not sure yet. I think they are better at being non stick but I don’t know about their longevity. Teflon usually lasts me about 2 years then it gets sticky. I tried the copper stuff and it lasted about 6 months. I am now using a ceramic and I like the fact that it doesn’t scratch and I can use metal utensils and after 2 months it looks like new which is a good sign. I use it lot by the way, a 12″ fry pan. As for the teflon pans, I had one that cost $125 and it still only lasted 2 years, so price doesn’t indicate longevity. I do recommend trying a carbon steel pan though. I have one and used it for a couple of years, it is as good as cast iron and a lot lighter. So why did I get the ceramic? To try it out and see how well it works. I still have the carbon if I need it.

I’ve owned “good’ol Teflon” in the past, and I’ll never spend my money on another. The coating breaks down with high heat, and with time. They also give off toxic fumes. You can’t use metal utensils, it scratches the teflon.
I do use silverstone (which, admittedly, does have teflon in it)…but ONLY for eggs and omelettes (eggs shouldn’t be cooked at a high heat). I don’t use metal utensils…using only for eggs does make the pans last longer.
Recently, I bought a ceramic coated skillet. For some things, I’m happy with it. It has a nice thick bottom, so heat is distributed quite well. I do like it better than “good ol’ Teflon”…definitely.
What I like best…by far…is cast iron skillets. And for pots, heavy stainless steel. Both cast iron and stainless steel are far better investments.
