Was the knife clean and did you clean the cut well? Tetanus vaccines are good for 10 years, so no, you don’t need another one. If anything you need to watch for signs of infection and get yourself to a doctor if you see it.

If you are within 10 years of your last booster, there is nothing to worry about. If it was a deep enough cut that you need to go in to a provider, they will review your immunization status and do a booster if indicated.
Tetanus lives in soil, or on items that can have soil on them. A clean cut with a clean kitchen knife would not normally be of a concern for getting tetanus.

Tetanus isn’t caused by steel. It’s caused by clostridium tetani bacteria, which is usually found in soil. There probably isn’t a lot of C. Tetani present on the average kitchen knife, because, due to their use on food, they tend to be regularly cleaned, and stainless steel cutlery inhibits the growth of bacteria to a degree. You’re also supposed to get a booster vaccine every 10 years, and keeps those exposed to C. Tetani from developing a full-blown case of tetanus.
Again, tetanus isn’t caused by getting cut or punctured with metallic objects. It’s caused by C. Tetani bacteria entering the bloodstream. If you left the kitchen knife planted in the garden for a couple days, then, maybe you should be concerned.

It depends on what else is or might be on said knife. I cut my thumb pretty significantly with an oversized knife trying to carve ham before coffee. It went deep enough I went to the hospital to be sure the knife hadn’t been stopped by bone. Because the knife wasn’t fresh out of a sterilizingly hot washer, they have me a tetanus shot and sealed the cut with medical grade super glue. I was happy to have both the shot and the list of symptoms to watch for regarding other food borne illnesses that could be transferred by wounds, especially as my immune system is kept in check by medication to keep it from eating my brain.

You should have your tetanus vaccinations up to date.
Despite my other failings, I generally keep my various knives clean as well as sharp. There would be no reason for bacilli to be hanging out of the smooth stainless steel sides of my kitchen cutlery. I wouldn’t even necessarily put antiseptic on such a wound (a function of my laziness rather than the lack of povidone iodine). The best thing to do is to let such a wound bleed freely for a minute or so. That will wash out almost all possible contaminants from deep inside the wound. Then keep the wound under flowing clean tap water. I don’t think anything is gain by doing that for more than fifteen minutes, and I generally just squirt some water on until the water clears up a bit, and then if I am being very responsible I’ll douse it with povidone iodine, but you’re not supposed to put a tight bandage over povidone iodine, so I’d give it a minute or two to kill anything foreign, rinse it with tap water, and then put one of the new ‘advanced healing” band-aids on it.
I got bitten by my own dog a while back. (He is getting old and arthritic and I managed to hurt him so much that he grabbed the offending hand). I asked my MD about it just in case. The response was that my vaccinations are all up to date. I know what my dog eats when he’s let out in the yard. But I just gave it the above-described, flooding, disinfecting, and bandaging. There was not the slightest sign of infection.
