Yes. But there’s no need to do it.
What does it require to cut off your hand? Well, a hand is built up on skin, muscles, tendons, nerves and bones. At least that’s the important arteries in a hand and arm.
To cut off a hand, you need to cut apart all those arteries and to break the wrist in your hand. It’s a tough job to do and it will be painful.
You’ve probably heard of the movie 127 Hours before. It’s a story of a man who had to cut off his own arm in order to free himself from a cliff accident, whereas a heavy rock crushed his arm causing him to get stuck.
He used some bone/breaking force and a shitty multi tool to cut off his arm by dismantling the arteries in his arm.
Like I said; if there’s no need to cut off your hand, why would you do it anyway?
And look; I do understand that there’s a curiosity in trying to cut off a hand. But these kinds of curiosities are not worth losing your limbs for. So don’t try it.
Amazon Basics 14-Piece Kitchen Knife Block Set, High-Carbon
Yes but it would be hard.
It would be difficult to get the hand off in one chop and it takes a lot of will power to continually cause your self large amounts pain. Here’s how I recommend to do it:
Numb the arm of the hand you want to cut off
Find a good chopping knife such as a cleaver
2. Line up your knife with this line
3. Raise the knife and slam it down hard
4. Repeat step three until the hand comes off
It may not go all the way through the first time. I recommend practicing on a friend before you do it on yourself.

Most of the bones in your body aren’t much more difficult to break than a thick stick. In fact, your fingers are about as easy to bite as a baby carrot! However, lucky for us humans, our brains make it nearly impossible to send self-harming commands to the rest of the body. So physically, yes, a knife could easily cut off a human hand, but you’ll have to override a lot of circuits to convince yourself that cutting off a hand is a good action to take.

Well, the answer is both a Yes and No. Yes, when its a question of survival and No, when there’s no motive for enduring such a painful ordeal.
I dare you to watch 127 hours movie where they show the torment of a mountaineer who undergoes the exact need for chopping his hand with a swiss knife for his survival.
While exploring a remote canyon in Utah, mountaineer and adventurer Aron Ralston (James Franco) becomes trapped when a boulder falls on his arm. Over the next five days, Ralston examines his life and considers his options, leading him to an agonizing choice: to amputate his arm so that he can extricate himself and try to make his way back to civilization or remain pinned to the canyon wall and likely die. Based on Ralston’s book, “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.”
This is a true story and I couldn’t bring myself to watch it for the very reason that it’s hard to watch someone not only take but execute such a painful task with just a small knife at hand. Lets just hope no one gets to go through this turmoil ever again.
I wonder why you ask though.

yes, it would be very difficult and traumatic though. You could also do it purely by accident, in which case your strength would still have to be quite tremendous to do it in one chop.

Accidentally??? Probably not.
As for intentionally, sure (depending on your pain tolerance). Though how easy depends heavily the knife in question and how good you are at working around the joints in the wrist.
If you can butcher a chicken or a pig, you can probably cut your hand if you just focus on splitting the joints where it connects to the wrist and then cutting the connective tissue around it. May have to give it tug if you didn’t go a good job.

Could you? Yes. Can you? Probably not. It would take a lot of desperation, discipline, or drugs to accomplish that. It wouldn’t be easy to cut off someone else’s hand with a knife, let alone your own. It IS possible though because a knife IS sharp enough. But only barely.

Yes and No.
Yes because any normal human has enough power to tear out his own body parts, so cutting a hand with a knife it nothing.
And no because of the fact that any normal human will feel a lot of pain in doing so and his brain will impose a self restraint. So whatever you do, you will not be able to harm yourself unless it is for your own survival (like your hand is under a heavy rock and if you don’t cut it you will die).

Withe a good, sharp knife it is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Use a good anesthesia beforehand, and have medical assistance nearby.
