Can You Freeze Almond Milk? Yes. As long as your milk is in a high-quality package with an airtight seal, you can store it in the freezer for up to 6 months at a time. If you’re planning on storing it for longer than that, then you’ll need to rethink your storage methods, otherwise it will spoil.
Freezing may change the consistency of your finished product, so make sure to allow some time for this when preparing frozen almond milk – most sources recommend adding 30 seconds of cooking time per cup stored.
How to Freeze Almond Milk
If you love a good healthy smoothie then you already know that using ice makes everything so much creamier and tastier which is why this is one of the ways you can freeze almond milk.
Place in the freezer for about two hours. Don’t freeze longer than this or they may become slushy instead of solid.
Remove From Tray
Once frozen, pop them out into a freezer bag or Tupperware container and put them back in the freezer. If you have an ice-crushing blade attachment on your blender, you can use this to chop up the cubes for your smoothie. Otherwise, grab a hand blender or food processor and pulse until they are broken into pieces that will fit through the hole in your straw. You now have ready-to-go almond milk cubes which you can easily add to any of your drinks.
Don’t Forget to Label
Make sure you label your almond milk cubes with the date so that you don’t forget. You can use any freezer bag or container for this, just be sure to leave some space at the top so they don’t explode all over your freezer. It’s also a good idea to keep them in large portions if you don’t use a lot of almond milk. Then you can simply remove however many cubes you need for your recipe and return the rest to the freezer.
Break Up Cubes
If you have a blender with an ice-crushing blade, this is by far the best option as it will take seconds to break up your cube into a smooth texture ready to add to your drink. If you don’t have a blender with an ice-crushing blade, use a food processor and pulse the cubes until they are broken up small enough for your straw or shaker cup.
