  2. What are you calling a knife sharpener? Electric, the hand held with two ceramic rods at an angle, a honing steel? Absolutely not! They’ll destroy the temper of the the steel, or won’t be hard enough to actually sharpen the blade because the blade is a higher Rockwell rating, wrong angle and you’ll reduce the life’s cutting angle. A honing steel doesn’t sharpen. Bring them to a reputable place or purchase a system with preset angles for various knives. It’ll keep the blade angle consistent until you can graduate to a whetstone.
