Depends on the workplace. My last job, I could. Granted, I had to cut a lot of boxes and plastic wrap at that job, so I needed it for work.
Other jobs? Not quite.

In the UK…. it depends.
In the knife and on the workplace.
Most workplaces, it is absolutely fine to carry a small friction folding penknife with you at all times.
However, working in a prison or on an commercial passenger airplane, it is unlikely to be looked on favourably.
A six inch razor sharp cook’s knife, if you are on the way to your job as a cook, then again fine.
That exact same knife, on your way to your job as a nursery nurse, doorman or librarian, not so much.

Depends on where you work and what kind of knife we’re talking about.
If you work in a professional office and want to carry a Crocodile Dundee sized beast of a knife – got a feeling that will be frowned upon.
If you’re working in a plumbing supply warehouse with a standard pocket knife – people will likely think less of you if you DON’T have one handy at all times.
These are two extreme examples and there are a pile of situations that fall in the middle. What kind of workplace? And what kind of knife? If you’re working in a mental institution, for TSA, or any other job where a knife would represent a clear and present danger to both you and others, it’s probably not allowed. If you’re working in a professional kitchen – it’s pretty much mandatory that you have one. If it’s a small generic pocket knife and it spends most of the time in your pocket – you’re likely okay. If you’re carrying an 18″ blade honed to a razor’s edge and aren’t working a job that requires something like that – probably not okay.

Normally, no. The exception would be if they use a knife in their work.
A person would still have to justify themselves as to why they don’t leave a work knife at work and there may be a reason for that, but it has to be a valid one.
Even if they have a reason, they could end up explaining themselves in court.
I’m speaking of a lock knife and the law in the UK. The length of the blade is also relevant.

If someone needs a knife as part of the toolkit they have in order to do their job, then yes, of course its allowed otherwise how could they do their job? I cant think of anything else, other than sinister reasons for wondering if it’s OK to take a knife to the workplace. Why would someone want to? to impress?, to bully? to defend? to intimidate? to threaten? If a workplace is so bad you are asking about carrying a knife then its time for another job I think. It’s probably also illegal so the best you could hope for would be to be fired – the worst would be jail time

I always carried a pocket knife, whenever I had to open packages, I took it out and used it and no one questioned me about it. But I was aware of legal blade length 3″ in Wisconsin . Never had a problem carrying it. As long as I followed the 3″ rule, I don’t believe brand of knife matters. Google local knife laws.

No, most companies have strict guidelines on any form of weapon. If you are talking a pocket knife, that is different. I have always had a Swiss army knife with me. If a disaster strikes, I am ready. I know many people who have concealed weapons. They would never carry them into the workspace. What if zombies come? We would have to make due with broom/mop handles and throwing staplers, in an office. A heavy measuring tape might help or heavy paperweight. Let us think on that.

That would depend on the countries knife restrictions, some do and some don’t, check in your local police station, and ask then what the law is.

I carried a pocket knife almost all my life. Just about anything one can do with fingernails, can be done more efficiently with a knife. You obviously can open your mail more neatly than tearing the envelope. Any tool converts to a weapon but that is what a knife is, a tool. A weapon extends your arm. A tool extends your fingers.
