Well they claim a damascus style to them but it is likely machined. I’d say for the price it is better than Wal-Mart but if you walked up to any other smith’s and requested a set for that price of 200$ or 300$+ they’d laugh at you. If you want a set of knives that will last more than a thousand years (if your generations take care of them),talk to a smithy and pay what he asks.
Chicago Cutlery Belden 15 Piece Premium Kitchen Knife
No, they are not good. The steel is at best second rate. If you have limited budget just get a Vitronox chef’s knife and maybe a paring knife. They have molded plastic handles and stamped blades, but the steel is good and will hold an edge. They are the least expensive I would consider that are any good. Another brand I’ve bought for friends is Tojiro which is good and look at bit nicer.
Amazon Basics 14-Piece Kitchen Knife Block Set, High-Carbon
I have honestly never used them. After a quick google search, I figured the new versions don’t look terribly cheap. I ended up the website, and they look well made. But then I saw they are made from 420 stainless. These will be the most rust-resistant knifes you could ever own, but they won’t hold a very good edge. For 135 dollars a set (This set includes steak knifes. NEVER BUY A SET WITH STEAK KNIVES!), you can get 3 essential kitchen knives of a much better brand.
Wanbasion Black Stainless Steel Knife Set, Sharp Kitchen Knife
They could be good, if you were to cut some carrots and making a salad. But I think they’d be bad if you dropped one on your foot….yeah, I’d say they’re bad and good at the same time….
