You should never stab someone in the gut, or anyplace else.

“Gut” implies the gastrointestinal tract. That is not a primary target with a common lockblade, but a target of opportunity when more viable targets cannot be accessed. You see, during a violent altercation the other man tends to move around very quickly, flailing his arms about and hollering, he isn’t just going to stand there compliantly.
Anyway, twisting, stirring, levering, pumping an inserted blade maximizes internal damage, but this is usually only done when targeting a major blood vessel such as the abdomenal aorta or inferior vena cava, and typically the knife used is a fixed blade 6″-8″ in length. Most folding knives have blades between 3″-4″ and are unable to reach many targets, even factoring in compression.
Twisting a blade in someone’s intestines is not necessarilly lethal or even debillitating… that person can continue to fight and is unlikely to die until infection sets in several days later. It would have no immediate effect. Best not to twist, instead retract and reinsert until a better target capable of stopping him is struck. Humans can survive over a dozen poorly targeted stab wounds… that happens a lot… knives have minimal stopping power and are a poor choice of weapon.

Yes stabbing a person and removal of the blade is done this way by breaking the suction. Usually the knife will stick until this is done. I do not condone nor do I advise trying it until you have no other recourse. I have shot people shooting at me and that was impersonal. Taking a life with a blade is very personal. I killed a man who stabbed me with his own knife and to this day I often have nightmares of him shivering on my blade like a tuna on a deck as his life ended. The smell of blood brings it back every time.

I feel that whoever answers this will be acting in a highly irresponsible manner. The only possible scenario in which such a question should be permissible would be when it was asked during training in a professional military situation. But this would then form part of hand to hand combat training. Outside of that context, the question is basically requesting information as to how to wound or kill a person using a knife. This could easily be misused, and result in the death or maiming of someone, and I find that totally unacceptable on a forum in which people of all ages are able to participate freely.
I would add that when so…
